Week 27 of 36 of the Oak Meadow Curriculum
This morning, I woke at 7 with the alarm. I woke Melissa up and told her to get ready for school, then jumped in the shower while she did so. When I was out and dressed, I woke Alexa. I knew today was going to be really busy for me, so I wanted to get some schoolwork done early.
Downstairs, I sent Melissa out the door, made coffee, and waited for Alexa to finish getting ready for the day. When she was all set, I had her take a spelling quiz while I made us some toast.
I then read 26 pages of The People In Pineapple Place aloud to her (for our 52 Books In 52 Weeks Challenge- see sidebar to left).
When we finished reading, I had her do two pages in her cursive workbook.
Alexa then read aloud to me, 20 pages of By The Shores Of Silver Lake while I prepared today's Teaching Textbooks math lesson.
When she finished reading, she did math. I had to leave during this time, so I directed her to finish math, then finish reading Eloise In Paris, and then she could do her own thing until I got back.
So, she did that, Shawn gave Ben a haircut, and I went with Kelly, my sister-in-law to be, to go dress shopping for her wedding. We got her dress and shoes and my dress (she's asked me to be her maid of honor so I needed something to wear!). We had lunch, and we got some birthday gifts and cards for a couple of kids parties I have to go to this weekend while we were out.
When we got back home, Shawn had already fed the kids lunch. We said goodbye to him as he was going to work for a while, and then Alexa and I did a Sentence Composing For Elementary School lesson. While we did that, Ben made a birthday card for his dad, whose birthday is coming up soon too!
Shortly thereafter, it was time to leave for our homeschool bowling league. Today was the last day to bowl (and Alexa bowled her best game ever- a 92). Next week will be the pizza party and the kids will get their trophies and then bowling's over til next year.

Back at home, Alexa did a quick review of the state capitals, and then the kids had some free time.
In the evening, we went to a birthday party. Friends of ours were holding a party for three of their kids at once. They did fundraiser instead of gifts, had dinner and cake and the kids got to play.
Back at home, Alexa and I did this week's science since it wasn't too involved and could be done pretty quickly- we just had to read a couple of pages on "Alternatives" and come up with a list of ways in which we can save energy.
Then we got the kids ready for bed and Shawn and I relaxed a bit with some TV.
Alexa and I actually managed to stay caught up with school despite my busy schedule today, so we won't need to do schoolwork over the weekend at least.
