Here in Pennsylvania, part of the legal requirements for homeschooling involve submitting "Proposed Educational Objectives By Subject Area" at the beginning of each school year, along with our affidavit.

I believe in keeping these on the general/vague side. I have used these same objectives for homeschooling Alexa in 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade. See slightly modified version below which I will use for 7th grade and beyond. Feel free to utilize these if applicable to your homeschool.

(See sidebar to left under "Useful Forms" for an example of the Affidavit that must also be submitted at the beginning of each school year).

You are very welcome! If this is for use in PA though, except for certain Philly districts I believe, you shouldn't have to report at all until your child reaches compulsory school age, which is 8. So before you submit any paperwork to your school district check into whether you actually have to! :)

Yes, I do have a portfolio example! Look at the stuff in the sidebar to the left side of my blog. There's a section that says "Useful Forms" and under that is a link for my Homeschool Portfolio page. Hope this helps! :)

I'm a pretty relaxed homeschooler. We do school around life, not life around school. We use mainly a fun, hands on curriculum that isn't overly time consuming and isn't dry or textbookish, and we're always willing to drop it for the time being if something fun, interesting, or educational comes up outside the house. Living is learning!
